Dylan Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Dylan is a multi-paradigm programming language that includes support for functional and object-oriented programming (OOP) and is dynamic and reflective while providing a programming model designed to support generating efficient machine code, including fine-grained control over dynamic and static behaviors. It was created in the early 1990s by a group led by Apple Computer.

Dylan derives from Scheme and Common Lisp and adds an integrated object system derived from the Common Lisp Object System (CLOS). In Dylan, all values (including numbers, characters, functions, and classes) are first-class objects. Dylan supports multiple inheritances, polymorphism, multiple dispatches, keyword arguments, object introspection, pattern-based syntax extension macros, and many other advanced features. Programs can express fine-grained control over dynamism, admitting programs that occupy a continuum between dynamic and static programming and supporting evolutionary development (allowing for rapid prototyping followed by incremental refinement and optimization).

A troubled learner from a premier university in Africa writes " Dylan has a lot of complexities which makes it difficult for people who cannot afford tuition. The model has been designed such that it cannot be self-taught. It takes a longer time to get used to the language unlike the others which are self-explanatory"

Dishwasher/Prep Cook (Former Employee) says

"Good place to work at great culture good people and also good managers the best thing about working there was the food. Crewmen bets were awesome people were"

Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) says

"The management seems more worried about being friends with the employees rather then disciplining then. No one is treated evenly and favorites are a huge issue"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time for more than a year Cons: Hard work and corporate don’t appreciate it. Over heard them say the staff were ‘hood’. Always short staffed Customers can be very pushy and rude"

Former Employee - Supervisor says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time for more than 3 years Cons: Extreme favoritism! I worked here for 3 years and I can tell you I was one of the favorites and got to see things from the inside. Management is definitely to blame but it goes all the way to the top. Dylan, the owner, is racist and arrogant. Anyone who works at the corporate office looks at store staff like they are slaves. They will only talk to you if you are Jewish. This place is all about making money. Once, the sewerage pipes broke and they simply wiped off the candy to sell it. They ask employees to scratch off expiration dates from packages, and the entire place is filled with rats and bugs! Also, the store managers will pretty much try to rape you, guys you aren’t safe either!"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time Cons: That's pretty much where it ends. The higher up the company you go, the more the cracks can be seen. I'm surprised this place continues to run. Management takes full advantage of the minimum wage workers, regularly asking them to do things that they normally wouldn't be doing. They'll use your hours as leverage, with clear favoritism. Then they'll turn around and wonder why this place is a revolving door. Management doesn't care about their employees."

Former Employee - Manager says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time for less than a year Cons: Corporate is the worst Company discriminates NYC store is God's creation so other stores get the short end of the stick when it comes to what is needed for success Poor work/life balance Bureaucratic"

Former Employee - Sales says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time for more than a year Cons: The turnover rate is so high because there is a lack of respect and professionalism from management. They behave in an unprofessional manner and many tend to talk down on their employees. It’s almost impossible to move up within the company. Management needs A LOT of work."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time for more than a year Cons: Everyone at corporate was hired based off of friendships vs. actual knowledge of literally anything Zero benefits offered to employees Popularity contest where you'll never win Little pay for everyone else while the useless people at corporate make great money Don't ever expect a response from anyone especially if crucial/time sensitive"

Former Employee - Sales Manager says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time for less than a year Cons: Horrible people work for the company in store and corprate. Unprofessional, lack of true ability and skill in which the positions and titles people hold. People are giving titles and promotions by default because they just don't have people to do certain jobs. People are constantly quitting and they are constantly hiring people to do jobs they are not skilled to do. It was a horrible experience and I was only there for a month and was apart of management and was totally shocked that a company owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter would be so grossly mismanaged in all areas of business."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time Cons: Very little respect for the employee. Corporate often treat staff like glorified servants."

says

"I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR Cons: HR doesn't respond to important issues. A lot of young employees which makes the environment like high school with a lot of drama. Very unprofessional environment."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at Dylan's Candy BAR full-time Cons: No organization, no communication and everybody in the company gossips about this one guy the president as to how much they hate him."

Miss D M Jones says

"I used this company a couple of years ago for my Daughter's prom dress, I am surprised they are still trading! I paid extra for the made to measure service, the dress arrived looking completely different to the picture. It was obviously not made to measure, the material was awful and the dress had holes and pulls in it. I immediately emailed, sent pics and asked for a return form, I was asked to keep the dress and pay myself for it to be fixed! It didn't matter how many times I requested a return form I was always ignored. I was lucky eventually I got my money back via my bank and another prom dress that was off the peg and cheaper than this one Please, please, please avoid using this company at all cost, they should be banned from advertising and trading with the UK."

Joanne Martin says

"The dress I ordered was 'light sky blue as on picture', but on the 9th March I received a green dress. On the 10th March I used the company's return request online form, and emailed separately stating I would need to return the dress. I have had several email conversations since, I have provided photos but all Dylan Queen have said is that they are 'looking into this problem'. It is now the 2nd May. Update 5th May Dylan Queen confirmed they won't allow me to return my dress or refund me."

Rosie Gore says

"Extremely disgusted Post never came in time The dress was squashed into a thin bag (caused creases) Nothing like the dress I paid so much money for Measurements where completely off Cheap Material Disgusting customer service Never had a solution to my problem"

Joe says

"Extremely poor workmanship. Not sure that the dress can even be altered. My measurements are correct but cannot put my arms above my waist. Post sale customer service awful."
